Cash for Trash

The Cash for Trash, a positive reinforcement anti-litter program, ran for three years, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

This program was the most interactive and "feel good" program run by the Litter Reduction Task Force.  It focused on the positive - - our secret spotters looked for and rewarded residents for anti-litter behaviour. The objective was to create a "buzz", an excitement, that would increase awareness to the litter issues in our community.

The campaign received, and continues to receive, tremendous support from the community; here are some of the comments:

"Thank you. This was a really exciting reward. I think my children will remember this for years to come!"
"This is a great program! What an incentive to get people to pick up litter!
At the Grand Finale: "Loved the family atmosphere", "enjoyed the amount of people there and how the Mayors cared about being a part of litter reduction!"
